Talented Adelaide based artist Dan Tomkins has exhibited in Coonawarra and twice won the John Shaw Nielson prize at the Penola Coonawarra Arts festival. The Ants captured the imagination & attitude of the Bellwether 'climate change' wines. His stunning work is diverse, humorous & captures nature.
"Ants are quite literally everywhere…and like these paintings they are not shy! After getting up close and personal with the native green ant while bushwalking in far-north Queensland, I was inspired to create this series of bold, energetic paintings. The gestural line work of these drawings reflects the curious and seemingly quirky nature of these fascinating little creatures and their remarkable relationship with their surroundings."
