My favourite day each year at Bellwether has to be Sips In The Sticks, it is always more than just food and wine.
Everyone is pushed to do something new and it truly is about the people who attend as much as it is the people speaking, making dessert or slaving in an unfamiliar kitchen in the middle of nowhere to produce food.
This year is my favourite out of all 5, and we have had some very special days over the years. Was it because it was all about the grower we heard from quite brilliant but truly humble people? Was it the first time I had ever had middle eastern inspired pork? Let alone freerange or berkshire from our own Wrattonbully - Struan Valley Pastoral.
Was it because my Coonawarra Cabernet grower won the dessert trophy?
Whatever it was - it worked, a triumph of new flavours and new friends. Massive thanks to all involved - missing you already!
